Swiss Tubing Company Expands Production Capabilities

November 20, 2009 – 7:20 am

medelecSwitzerland-based precision tubing supplier Medelec (Puidoux) has announced that it is increasing capacity by approximately 900 sq m. “This will boost our production capabilities by 50%,” says Marc Butty, General Manager, from the company’s stand at Compamed in Düsseldorf, Germany. The work should be completed by the summer. The firm is also boosting value-added services such as laser welding, machining and turning, “but we only provide those services for our own tubing,” stresses Butty.

One of the reasons that the company has registered steady growth in a turbulent year is surging demand from the US market. Business has been trending upward on the other side of the Atlantic, “especially in the 0.25 mm long and 0.15 mm diam range,” says Butty.

Medelec supplies high-precision cold-drawn metal tubing from stainless steel, gold, platinum, titanium, copper, aluminium and other implantable alloys. Outer diameters from 0.1 to 10 mm and wall thicknesses from 0.025 to 1.00 mm can be achieved with tolerances under 5 µm.
