KNF and Sanofi Aventis Collaborate on Diaphragm Dosing Pump

KNF-Simdos-webOperational simplicity and deep functionality are the two key characteristics of a diaphragm dosing pump developed by KNF Flodos with input from the Frankfurt, Germany, office of Sanofi Aventis. The pump played a starring role at the KNF stand at last week’s Compamed trade show in Düsseldorf, Germany.

“Our focus in developing the Simdos pump was to design an intuitive interface that provides access to an array of features,” says Stephan Kaufmann, Manager Development and Design at KNF. “People may not use this pump every day, and we wanted to avoid wasting a lot of time training personnel.” The user interface is articulated around a push-in control knob and easy-to-read display, and the sleek pump has a small footprint to take up as little valuable lab space as possible.

Suited for transferring corrosive liquids typically found in lab environments, the Simdos pump is available with heads in various materials including PTFE. For added safety, the head is positioned outside the device’s splash-protected IP-65 housing.

The pump sets a benchmark in fast, precise calibration, according to the company. Following calibration, the pump achieves ±1% repeatability and accommodates 0 to 100 ml/min flow rates and volumes of 0 to 1000 ml.

The pump can be run dry and is self priming at up to 3 m. The integrated software allows transfer parameters to be modified by the push of a button.
