Helios10-MD-white-background-webA CMOS X-ray panel with a 20 x 25 cm active area has been introduced by Dalsa Corp.’s Rad-icon Imaging Div. The Helios10 MD medical-grade cassette package with integrated handle is the first product the company has developed in this size and form factor. It will initiate the company’s new Helios camera family. The Helios10 MD was showcased at RSNA 2009, the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America, which was held in Chicago last week.

The panel was designed to exceed the rigorous imaging requirements for a variety of medical imaging applications such as full-field digital mammography, general radiography, bone densitometry and other mobile digital radiography applications.

The Helios10 MD panel achieves a total active sensing area spanning 20 x 25 cm while maintaining high-quality image resolution with a pixel size of only 96 µm. The active-pixel CMOS photodiode array at the core of the Helios panel consists of more than five million individual pixels that convert light emitted by the integrated scintillator screen into electrical signals. The detector’s low-noise, 14-bit digital output produces crisp, sharp images for medical radiography applications. The panel, which weighs less than 3 kg, is packaged in a custom-moulded housing with a slim cassette form factor and integrated handle.
