Riverside Medical Packaging Ltd recently commissioned and validated a fourth thermoform line in its Derby, UK, facility. Designed and built in-house, the blister packing machines reportedly are unique to the company. The narrow web systems enable cost-effective tooling and the use of semirigid or flexible blisters for products that would otherwise have fewer custom packaging options, according to Riverside Medical. In-line single colour printing capability is combined with innovative machine design features to enable rapid tool changes and set-up, making this type of packaging an option even for short runs.

A supplier of contract manufacturing and packaging services, Riverside Medical is one of the largest UK producers of peel pouches and sachets for medical applications. The company routinely invests in up-to-date engineering software and equipment to enable the in-house design and production its own packaging machinery and tooling.

Founded in 1979, the company currently packages more than 45 million medical devices annually, from simple dressings to knee, hip and spine implants.
