Mobility Solutions Using Mechatronics

“Mobility Through Mechatronics” is the title of a competition just announced by Mechatronic Karlsruhe in Germany that is designed to showcase product ideas and demonstrate the benefits of mechatronics for human mobility such as in the field of rehabilitation. The Mechatronic Karlsruhe Award competition, under the direction of Professor Michael C. Wilhelm of Hochschule Karlsruhe – Technik und Wirtschaft (University of Applied Sciences in Karlsruhe) is open to students, mechatronics apprentices and open teams, who must submit their project descriptions including idea, goals, solution and procedure by 16 April 2010.

A jury consisting of advisory committee members from Mechatronic Karlsruhe will compile a shortlist of the best projects by 30 April 2010. Three teams will then have the opportunity to present their projects at an exhibition on 19 May 2010, and win the Mechatronic Karlsruhe Award.

The exhibition together with a conference is being held on 19 and 20 May 2010 in Karlsruhe. To enhance the industrial relevance of the event talks will address Energy and Mobility, Manufacturing, Process Chains and Materials, Market Strategies, Patents and Corporate Ethics, Networking and Finance Models and System Development.

A number of leading companies, universities and research institutions are represented at the conference and exhibition, including Bosch Rexroth, Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte, FESTO, PI (Physik Instrumente), SEW-EURODRIVE, Siemens, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft.
