More to See at MedTech Museum

If you have not yet paid a visit to Eucomed’s MedTech Museum, here’s one more reason to stop procrastinating. The online museum, which medtechinsider previewed in October, has added a wing on eye disorders. Information on eye conditions, treatment options and historical perspectives is presented in an attractive and entertaining 3-D environment.
Worldwide, around 45 million people are blind and 135 million have only partial sight, reports Eucomed. This number could double by 2020. “From cataract to glaucoma and macular degeneration, eye disorders are one of the most common forms of disability and proper information adapted to a wide-ranging audience is an important asset in discovering these disorders at an early stage. The Eucomed MedTech Museum wants to offer its visitors a comprehensive, engaging tool to find out more about these conditions and how medical technology is transforming people’s lives,” said John Wilkinson, Chief Executive of Eucomed.
Described by Eucomed as the first of its kind, the MedTech Museum aims at better informing policy-makers, journalists and patients about the benefits of medical technology, and at increasing awareness and understanding of this sector. Split over three virtual floors, the museum provides information on the distinction between medical devices and pharmaceuticals, the contribution of medical technology to the EU economy, what medical technology will look like in the future and much more.
