Hannover Messe: Permanent Antimicrobial Coating Provides Sterile Surfaces
April 21, 2010 – 5:42 amGood news for Hannover Messe: Air traffic is slowly getting back to normal and the aisles at the IVAM Product Market “Micro, Nano & Materials” are filling up. One of the companies exhibiting at the joint pavilion of the IVAM Microtechnology Network in Hall 6 is coating systems provider Panadur GmbH (Halberstadt, Germany). Founded only two years ago, the company offers a wide range of surface coatings for various functional applications, industries and materials. At Hannover Messe, Panadur showcases polyurea-based intelligent, solvent-free coating materials. “We are using nanoparticles in our Panadur-System that make targeted surface functionalisation possible,” says Dr. Thomas Moch, CEO. “By using nanoparticles, we can achieve inflammability, scratch resistance, conductivity and UV-stability. And by applying nanoscale silver, we get a permanent antimicrobial coating that opens up opportunities such as fighting the hospital bacterium Staphylococcus aureus.”
Within just a short time the material can kill bacteria on surfaces, minimising the risk of infection. Moch says that the antimicrobial coating is therefore well suited for the housing of computer tomographs, operating room equipment covers, hospital flooring and dental chairs, among other products.
You can still visit Panadur at Hannover Messe until the end of this week. The company is exhibiting in hall 6 at the IVAM Product Market.
