UK electronic products manufacturer and design house Bytec has formed a subsidiary dedicated to medical equipment and services. Headquartered in Redhill, Surrey, Bytec Medical is developing a range of human-machine interface (HMI) products for the healthcare industry. “Our experience within Bytec Group means that we fully understand the demands of medical equipment manufacturers and their need for consistent quality, both in OEM products and in the Bytec Medical portfolio,” says group CEO Bernard Mifsud.
Bytec has more than 15 years’ experience in electronics manufacturing, initially as a contract electronics manufacturer, and more recently as a supplier of high-end HMI systems, offering extensive engineering and product design services. In addition to its contract services, Bytec Medical will have a portfolio of electronic and computing platform products focused on medical solutions. Examples include medical carts and stands, keyboards, mounting systems, displays and point-of-care terminals.
The Medi-Key keyboard (pictured) is the first product to be placed on the market by the new subsidiary. Manufactured using hypoallergenic latex-free silicone rubber, the keyboard incorporates antimicrobial silver ion technology to control bacteria.
Bytec Medical also introduced a medical equipment platform of products ergonomically designed for ease of use and infection control. Developed from the ground up for hospital and medical environments, the SmartCart and Medi-Stand units draw on the real-world experience of users in operating theatres, hospital wards, dental clinics and intensive therapy units, says the company.
