Health Technology Assessments, the Economy on MedTech Forum Agenda
August 22, 2010 – 10:19 pmPan-European trade association Eucomed has announced the full programme of the forthcoming MedTech Forum 2010. The event will feature discussions of such provocative issues as corruption in the healthcare system, the methodology and ramifications of health technology assessments and the way forward for medtech companies wrestling with a feeble economy. The annual forum returns to the Crowne Plaza in Brussels on 12–14 October.
Training sessions on the effective use of public affairs skills to influence policy outcomes and best practices in conducting clinical investigations and evaluations are scheduled the morning of 12 October. The afternoon will be devoted to discussions on corruption in the healthcare system, health technology assessments and clinical developments to come.
Policy debates and a CEO summit are scheduled for the MedTech Forum proper on 13 and 14 October. Highlights include:
- a discussion of Europe’s 2020 strategy and boosting competitiveness through investments in R&D
- how to increase the uptake of innovation through policy
- a debate on how to achieve a balance in quality of care and efficiency
- viewpoints on how the recession has affected the medtech industry.
