German Med-Tech Sector Remains Optimistic

The German med-tech sector continues to remain a solid source of employment despite the downturn in the global economy. The German medical technology organization BVMed recently polled 72 medical device manufacturers. The poll found that 55% of med-tech firms employ more people now than they did a year ago. The bulk of the remaining companies maintained stable employment over the past year. According to the organization, a total of 4200 new jobs were added to the German med-tech sector in 2008.

BVMed also reported that the med-tech industry has experienced growth in the range of 5% in 2008. It forecasts growth in the coming year to be in the range of 2 to 3%.
