Interface Catheter Solutions Upgrades its Balloon Visual Inspection System

Interface Catheter Solutions has upgraded its balloon visual inspection system. The upgraded version is designed to significantly reduce cycle times. The system provides both visual inspection and dimensional measurements of medical balloons in a single operation to add consistency and accountability to the inspection process. The inspection includes classification and size of defects with pass/fail analysis based on user-selected criteria. The system provides immediate detailed visual and data reporting used in both quality manufacturing inspection and research and development.

The new system has enhanced pneumatic rotary air chucks that reduce cycle time inspection processing. Additional upgrades include higher pressure capability for pressures up to 13 atmospheres, along with significantly improved pressure accuracy, compared to the previous version.

Another newly added feature is an ionizing knife that blows static free air, while rotating the balloon under pressure before each inspection process. This reduces particles, thereby reducing potential false-negative testing results, according to the company.
