Over 45 companies will present at Life Science Investment Day Scandinavia 2012, to take place next week in Malmo, Sweden. The presenting companies are from Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. They are seeking partnerships at the event, which will be attended by European investors. This year marks the seventh Life Science Investment Day Scandinavia. Previous events took place in Stockholm. This year’s event will take place on 27 March at the Hilton Malmo.
The event is organised by SwedenBIO, a nonprofit organisation for the Swedish life science sector. SwedenBIO estimates that about 300 to 400 people will visit the event, including several new companies.
Speakers at the event include Grace Chen from Bird & Bird, who will discuss the Chinese market, Nigel Whittle from UK Trade & Investment, who will speak about the UK’s life sciences strategy, and Piyush Unalkat from the European Investment Fund, who will talk about venture capital.
In collaboration with Life Science Investment Day Scandinavia, Nordic Journal of Chemistry & Biotechnology is organising a sister event the next day. That event, “The Future of Swedish and Danish Life Science“, will take place in Lund. It will include seminars on R&D, strategies and technologies for Swedish and Danish life science companies.
The life science industry in Sweden stands for around 20% of the country’s net exports and has grown faster than any other industry sector, according to SwedenBIO. Sweden has three major life science clusters, Stockholm-Uppsala, Medicon Valley (Malmo-Lund) and Medcoast (Gothenburg).Camilla Andersson
