Serge Bernasconi Appointed CEO of EDMA and Eucomed

Eucomed and EDMA (the European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association) have announced that Serge Bernasconi has been appointed CEO of both associations. Bernasconi will succeed Luciano Cattani at Eucomed and Volker Oeding at EDMA starting next week.

Earlier this year, the organisations announced that they would join forces under the umbrella of a European industry federation. The collaboration allows the organisations to speak with one voice and address common issues of interest; however, they will remain two separate entities, according to a Eucomed/EDMA press release.

Bernasconi most recently served as President of Medtronic France and Regional Vice President of Medtronic Europe. He has also worked for Johnson & Johnson and Schering Plough.

Dr. Volker Oeding took over as Chief Executive ad interim of EDMA after the association’s former Director General, Philippe Jacon, in October 2011. Luciano Cattani has served as Chief Executive ad interim of Eucomed since January, when he took over the role from John Wilkinson.
