August 15, 2012 – 5:00 pmDenmark has announced that its new Action Plan for Telemedicine will be built on Design Guidelines created by Continua Health Alliance, according to a press release from the international industry association.
The Action Plan for Telemedicine aims to create a framework for deployment of connected health strategies and to offer large-scale testing of these strategies. The plan is funded by the Danish government. Continua’s Design Guidelines will be used to establish national standards and reference architectures for health IT in Denmark. These will be used to ensure secure collection, transmission and storage of personal health data as well as convenience for both patients and providers.
Continua Health Alliance ‘s guidelines contain references to existing standards and specifications that the alliance elected to ensure interoperability of devices. They also include additional design guidelines that further clarify these standards and specifications, reduce options and add missing features. The guidelines were written for device manufacturers that intend to complete Continua’s certification process.
