Fakuma: LPKF Presents Laser Welding Systems for Precise Welding Geometries

October 11, 2012 – 9:21 am

At Fakuma taking place in Friedrichshafen, Germany next week, LPKF Laser & Electronics AG is going to present four laser welding systems that are suitable for medical technology applications. In microfluidics applications, hygiene, a particle-free environment and precise welding geometries are crucial for laser plastic welding of medical devices. According to the company, a spectrum of testing methods guarantees the quality of the welded products: Melt travel monitoring, pyrometer control and burn detection all ensure that only passed parts leave the production process. The patented reflection diagnostic method evaluates the light reflections from boundary surfaces to reliably assess whether or not welding has been successful.

Among other systems, LPKF will be showing a special version of the LQ-Vario laser welder at the international trade fair for plastics processing. In the MF version, a high-precision fibre laser is suitable for ultrafine weld seams with a width of only 70 µm. The 2-µm version, a special fibre laser with a wavelength of approximately 2 µm, produces precise joints for transparent welds. This flexible and compact laser welding machine is specially equipped for the economical processing of small and medium series.

Visit LPKF at Fakuma from 16 to 20 October in hall A4, stand 4122.
