Fakuma: Treffert Demonstrates All Around Laser Marking

At the international trade fair for plastics processing Fakuma in Friedrichshafen, Germany, Treffert debuted a laser system with a freely programmable six-axis robot for plastic marking and welding applications. The materials supplier develops masterbatches compatible with the laser-based welding and marking process. The company will hold live demonstrations through tomorrow, showing all-around laser marking on an immobile workpiece at Fakuma’s “theme park for medical technology” (Themenpark Medizintechnik). “The laser beam can be freely positioned anywhere,” explains Detlev Ringhof, Managing Director, Treffert. “There are practically no limits in terms of accessibility for laser marking or welding operations.”

With a footprint of less than 4 square metres, the compact RayRobot laser system features a spacious workspace (600 x 600 x 600 mm) that is accessible from all four sides, and offers energy-efficient operation. Positioning accuracy is within 10 µm. “The system complies with the highest safety levels according to the current standard of industrial lasers,” says Ringhof.
