Workshop Will Focus On Environmental Law for Med-Tech Industry
April 15, 2009 – 2:17 amTaking place on May 12 in Berlin, the workshop “Environmental Law and Medical Products” will highlight the most important environmental issues for med-tech companies. Targeted at employees working in the fields of research, product development, pollution control, purchasing, regulatory affairs and marketing, the seminar will deal with the European Community Regulation on chemicals REACH, the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE), the new Battery Directive and the implementation of the packaging ordinance.
According to trade association BVMed (German Association of Medical Technology), two trends are currently characterising environmental law for medical products. One is that decisions about environmental regulations are increasingly being decided on a European level and to some extend are applicable without national adjustment, such as the REACH guidelines. Another trend, according to BVMed, is the discontinuation of exceptions for medical products in some environmental law editions. So the med-tech industry is now being confronted with dual regulations in environmental law and medical devices law. The one-day workshop is going to pick up these trends and provide assistance on all matters of concern.
